Extreme Faith: Jnthn Responds

Jnthn responded to my post about extreme faith, about whether or not we should be striving to be knights of faith. He says that we all want to Abraham (or in his example, Moses), but that the overwhelming majority of us never are, and that SK is reacting ” to a inclusionary Christendom which has all [...]

Extreme Faith

jnthn posted a comment about my recent Kierkegaard post, that really hits what I was wrestling with in the last paragraph over the head. Let me sum up with much abbreviated quote for those of you too lazy to click. He says, “Am I correct in this: SK believes that such extreme faith occured only for [...]

Kierkegaard and An Answer to Jonathan’s Question

A long time ago, I promised an answer to Jonathan’s question: “What your Isaac?” At the same time, jnthn and Wick had a discussion in the comments about the subject, with jnthn arguing that sacrificing Isaac is so out of the realm of what we would consider ethical that to ask what our Isaac is, is [...]

Christian Music

Brent posted about Christian music. He said a lot of good things, including, “There is a deep problem when I can buy [in a Christian store] an artist who denies the Trinity but not Bob Dylan’s trilogy of Slow Train Coming, Saved and Shot of Love,” and before that, “But one of the main issues [...]

Security Expert on Wireless Networking

I guess Bruce Schneier is a computer security expert. I wouldn’t know, but that’s what they tell me. He had a Q&A/interview on Frekonomics.com a while ago. And as it turns out, he feels the same way I do about locking down your wireless network: “Q: Is there any benefit to password protecting your home Wifi [...]

Using wget to mirror pages

I just used wget to mirror a couple pages before I deleted them. Now, despite the fact that my work host doesn’t give me FTP access, I at least have a non-dynamic backup of the page. I had to drop the .exe into my system32 folder, then call it from the command line as: wget http://decaturradar.com/products/profile.php@id=87 -pk [...]

For Your Information

Just so you know: “Techno music composing made easy, with a free techno music maker: This is very true. But you must always remember one thing. The musician and the music maker are one of the same things, the utility is there to express your ideas, nothing more.” I’m not sure what this means. But I think [...]
