SuperWhy Fixed

Ok, the Super Why pumpkin stencil is fixed now. The previous file was actually a .ps file, rather than a .pdf, despite the file name. Oops.

Adobe Hates Windows

I don’t get it. Why is Adobe convinced that Windows’ window manager sucks? Why do I end up with things like this on my desktop at work (on Windows)? Why can’t I get a normal window? I understand the deal with the Gimp–it’s not designed for Windows. Inkscape is pretty bad too–it DEFINATELY needs a [...]

Live Looping Software

For a couple years now, I’ve had a dream of putting together a coffeehouse duo: one person (me) playing guitar and singing and the other person playing a laptop, doing looping on the fly and rapping. This would be awesome. If I could sing. Or if I can find anybody who had a good laptop [...]

Super Why Jack o’ Lantern Pumpkin Stencil

It’s a little late, but here it is: the Super Why jack ‘o lantern stencil. I haven’t tried it out, yet–I’m really hoping it works. But if your kid is like mine, he LOVES Super Why. And he wants Super Why on his jack ‘o lantern. Who am I to disappoint? It’s a .pdf, so you [...]

On Bullying and Morality

I stumbled onto a moderately interesting article responding to athiesm about ethics. Now, we’ve been down this atheism road: until they get bored of pretending that the world is 100% rationally comprehendible (and that it’s problems can be solved with those means), I’m not real interested. There’s plenty of brilliant philosophers, writers, and artists out [...]

Taping a Battery on Your Chest Might Get You Shot

Here’s an interesting story in the news: an MIT student goes to pick up a friend at the airport. She’s wearing a sweatshirt with an circuit board, wires, flashing LEDs, and a battery on it. She arrested after having submachine guns pointed at her. Here’s the policeone.com coverage of the story. After reading that, it seemed to me that [...]

Why I Hate Internet Explorer

For reasons I’d rather not go into (dumb video files), I needed to install IE7 today. First of all, it was a 17MB download. Opera is a 5MB download. Firefox is slightly larger at 7MB or so. So IE is 2–3 time larger. Surely, then, it should have everything it needs to install. Nope. It then [...]

Green Beans

Like I mentioned before, over the last month or two, I’ve been drinking coffee that I roasted myself. I’ve gotten better at it–although I don’t think the roaster I have gets hot enough (I can’t burn the beans with it, which is either good or bad, depending on how you look at it). In any case, [...]

An Interview with Bill Mallonee

Brent at Colossians Three Sixteen did it again: this time it’s an interview with Vigilantes of Love frontman, Bill Mallonee. And it’s dang good and long. And it’s only Part 1! He talks about their lack of commercial success, despite a lot of critical acclaim, the insularity of the CCM scene (he doesn’t really say anything [...]

Traveling, Blogging and Sleep

This month, I’ve traveled a lot. At the beginning of the month, I went to CopsWest, a law enforcement expo outside Los Angeles. A week after I got back, I left for New Orleans for IACP, the biggest cop show in the world. By the time I got back, I was sick of traveling. At the [...]
