Two Genius Comics

I’ve been on both ends of this shopping duo. And while I’m a Linux geek, I don’t know if I’ve ever been this bad. Don’t ask my wife, though–she’d say I am.

Show Don’t Tell and Other Artistic Truths

I’m telling you, these guys at The Scriptorium are dang smart. Here’s a post on artistry and art. It’s right on, arguing that, “the artist experiences something which gives him an impression of truth, which he then distills into ideas and describes to himself. He then takes the abstract idea and expresses it again in [...]

Another Sign that I’m Really Making The Switch

The other day, I had to install some software on a Windows machine. I can’t remember if it was my computer at work or the Windows partition on my laptop. Either way, I remember having a sinking sensation about it in the pit of my stomach. “What if this stuff jacks up my machine,” I [...]

Christian and The Arts

Here’s an interesting article in Forbes on Christians and the arts. One thing it mentions is the Brehm Center for the Arts, which is part of Fuller Theological Seminary. It’s a “center aspiring to be an evangelical arts think tank, with five stand-alone institutes focused upon worship and music, film and moving images, art and [...]

Only Geeks Will Understand

I just installed a mac theme on fluxbox. I kind of like it. I do believe this is unequivocably a sign of my going over to the dark side. On several levels. All of which you’ll understand if you know what I’m talking about (three of you, maybe) and none of which you’ll get if you don’t [...]

Mormons are Samaritans

Once again, the Scriptorium does well for itself, this time rewriting the parable of the good Samaritan as the parable of the good Mormon. I think they overly justify themselves and overstate the ‘dangers of associating with people of erroneous theology,’ but I think they’re right on to tell such a story evangelicals.

Woot Speaks on Hipsters

Today, they’re selling a 30GB Zune for $150 over at woot.com. Which is a good deal, no matter how you cut it. Better than the deal, though, is the description. Mostly b/c they mention David Foster Wallace. I’m posting it here in its entirety because tomorrow, it’ll be gone: I’ll never forget the day the Hipster putted [...]
