Sweet News from The Music World

Check this out: 1. The guys from Starflyer 69 and Joy Electric are brothers. And they’re getting ready to put out an album. Here’s their MySpace page, which reportedly has a song or two on it. 2. Even cooler? Some kids choir recorded several Flaming Lips songs. And they’re available for a free/legal download. Man, I’m so [...]

Really Back in Business

Ok. I’ve got my setting reimported into Opera. I’m still debating about whether or not I’m going to move everything over and share files between the Linux and Windows versions. I’m kind of thinking I’m not, just so nothing gets buggered.… We’ll see, I guess. Still, it feels good to be back, hehe.

Linux Is Almost Fun

Well, I’ve ALMOST given up on getting my wireless to work. As it turns out, I have to download the code that makes up the heart of Linux (not the programs itself), which is some wacky-big download or something. I dunno. Whatever it is, I ain’t got it. But besides that, I’m starting to get the [...]

Fedora Dial-Up Working!!

I got it working! I finally got dial-up working on Fedora. Here’s what I had to do. First of all, I had to download the slmodemd rpm from somewhere and install it. It didn’t work. Lots of other crap didn’t work either. Including building it from source. I downloaded the kernel headers (I don’t know [...]

Jesus Is My Boyfirend

Here’s a really interesting post about the feminization of the church. Or rather, how it’s not that big of a deal. It’s worth a read…

Freaking Linux

Well, I’ve successfully installed Linux now. Twice. Once with Kubuntu, the KDE version of Ubuntu. And once with Fedora Core 5. I thought it was going to be fun. It’s starting to not be fun pretty fast. Kubuntu was worthless b/c half the stuff I needed wasn’t installed. And it was a 13 mb download for [...]

The Church

I’ve heard (and thunk) a lot recently about the church, how important it is to be part of one in the traditional American sense, and how I wouldn’t complain if I didn’t get involved in a church for a long while. And a friend of mine talked a lot a while ago about how he was [...]

Battlestar Galactica Is Not Babylon 5

Ok. I just realized: I’m not geek enough. I read an article a couple weeks ago about the new(ish) Babylon 5 show and thought to myself, “Hasn’t that show been around forever and isn’t it geek central? Why are they touting it as 1) new and 2) accessible?” As it turns out, I was mixing [...]

Panera Might Be Your Next Office

So, USA Today had an article about how more and more people are working from a third place, Panera, coffeeshops, that kind of thing. There’s some really interesting stuff in there, particularly about how people zone into their computers, how quiet it can get, and how possessive people are about their space. Granted, the lighting and [...]
