Monthly Archives: September 2006

I found this thing called the Vista Transformation Pack that’s supposd to make XP look like Vista. As far as I could tell, it didn’t really work. All it did was change a couple icons and let me make my windows as much or little transparent as I wanted. Whoop-do-freakin-do. There was one good thing [...]

Politics, Courtesy of Wil Wheaton

I really don’t keep up with politics that much. But I think Wil Wheaton hits the nail on the head with this post about torture legislation. You tell ‘em, Wil.

On Commas and Bush’s Secret Language

Here’s a REALLY interesting Language Log article about the phrase, ‘Don’t put a period where God put a comma,’ or rather, about Bush’s indirect use of the phrase (probably). There’s a lot of really good comments that Mark’s posted. I sure wish they’d throw the breaker at the Language Log Plaza and get the commenting [...]

Poetry on My Blog

The search function on blogger hasn’t really worked very well. When I would post poems, I purposefully titled the posts “Poetry” so they’d be easy to find when I searched (blogger is owned by google, so it shouldn’t be hard). But it never worked–anytime I searched, nothing would show up. Till today. For the first time, [...]

Storming

Jonathan’s got a great post about the last wave of storms that have rolled through. The fact that he’s in Arkansas and I’m in Illinois doesn’t hurt his point, either.

Why Is MySpace So Ugly?

So, here’s my question: why is every myspace page so freakin’ ugly? Seriously, have you ever seen a myspace page that didn’t look wicked cluttered, filled w/ a million tiny pictures of who knows what over a too-busy background? Even most of the band sites I’ve seen have been bad (ie. the newsboys). Why is [...]

Being There by Wilco

I found Being There and Kicking Television, a couple Wilco albums at the library the other day. I’m just now getting around to listening to Being There. It totally rules. I know most of the songs from live shows that I’ve listened to, or from the movie. I guess it was their second alubm, from [...]

More on FoxFaith

I got a couple comments on my post about FoxFaith. Unfortunately, I can’t post comments to my own blog (dang you Blogger Beta!!). So here’s the response to my brother’s comment I intended to post: I’m not frustrated about the artistry of it all. I’m mad about the fact that anybody is trying to co-opt some [...]

Tiny Computer

Check this tiny computer out. Very cool. It’s only $200, and its mghz are directly proportional. That’s not a lot of power, but it’s a freakin’ COMPUTER that’s two or three times the size of your flash drive. COMPUTER, yo.

FoxFaith

I don’t know what FoxFaith Movies is. But there’s advertisments on cable for it, that it’s ‘movies you can believe in.’ Or to put it another way, they’re using my (our) faith to sell us stuff. Fox. Fox News? Fair and Balanced? That Fox. Co-opting my faith, my belief in the Almighty Creator of the [...]
