From Oppressed Minority to.…

I’m working on my lesson for 2 Thessalonians 1, right now, and I’m troubled. Paul writes, “He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. 9They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the majesty [...]

New mp3 Player

For the last several days, I’ve been bidding on every single iRiver H120. It’s a 20gb mp3 player. I set myself a limit that I thought was pretty dang cheap (shipped it cost me 130.86), and refused to bid the $5–10 over that that would have gotten me one a lot sooner. I probably bid [...]

Being Genuine

I’m reading up on interviewing tips, trying to get ready for a phone interview I’ve got on Monday. Here’s a article with bizarre advice: Have nothing but praise for their professionalism and for the opportunities they gave you to develop – even if that’s not really how you feel about them right now! If you [...]

String Cheese Incident

I’ve ripped on jam bands before (there was supposed to be a link there to an old post about how Garage Mahjal bites, but Blogger/Google’s blog search ain’t cutting the mustard). Jam bands often annoy me mostly because their music is often aimless, indulgent, and, as our favorite Sufjan-hater would say, “alienating.” These are synonymous [...]

Why I Love KXUA

I was listening to 88.3 KXUA, the college radio station today. They had a psa about some local art gallery. The end of the announcement went like this: “For more information, call 501–673-112…and another number we don’t have.” You can’t tell me that’s not almost as funny as Microsoft’s css picture.

This Land Is Your Land

I’m listening to Arlo Guthrie sing his father’s most famous song right now. And let me tell you–it’s a pinko commie, hippy, tree-hugging anthem. But somehow, I’ve always heard it as a sort of MidWest conservative American kind of thing. I’ve always heard “this land is your land, this land is my land,” as “this [...]

A Picture to Help You Understand CSS

Here’s a pic from one of Microsoft’s Frontpage tutorials that should help you understand CSS for all of those of you out there that are confused: Ok, you can’t tell me that’s not hysterical.

I Finally Installed Linux (sort of)

I blogged yesterday about how Microsoft is now giving away Virtual PC (scroll down, there should be a link; or just google for it). Today, I downloaded it and installed it. It seems pretty bare bones, really–basically, you get a window and it’s pretty much like your machine is running in the window.…install a new [...]

Microsoft Virtual PC for Free!

Check it: Microsoft is giving away Virtual PC, so you can run virtual machines on your computer. So, don’t bother pirating a copy–just get it for free. It ain’t VMWare, but it’s a crapload more free.

McLaren Schools Relevant

Relevant Magazing interviewed Brian McLaren. They asked him, “You’ve been accused of being too politically Left. After large sections of the Church were hijacked by the Religious Right, aren’t you doing the same on the Left?” He schooled them. Hard. I’ll let your read it (the first part of the interview is ok, but the last couple [...]
